Zuma Dogg kicks off his campaign in Highland Park
“It’s a great place to live, but I wouldn’t want to visit there.” —Will Rogers
At the Highland Park Holiday Parade of all places? Zuma Dogg heard from volunteers:
Councilmember Ed Reyes was heard “bullying” the community members (VOLUNTEERS) who were working at the parade. Apparently, Reyes didn’t like being kept around waiting, further back in the parade route, and wanted to be bumped up to the front of the parade so he wouldn’t have to wait. He was heard reminding people that he could have the parade shut down.
Zuma Dogg spent the past few weeks collecting signatures to put his name on the ballot as candidate for mayor. Last night, he reached his goal:
I got my 1000th signature this evening in Silverlake in front of Trader Joe’s. Plus, I picked up the 30-40 signature petitions my other helpers collected. So that’s over 1000 by just enough to cross a few off. But I have been crossing off anything that didn’t look valid, all along. So out of the 1000…hopefully 500 people aren’t mistaken as to their registration address.
The absence of a high-profile mayoral contender will allow Zuma Dogg to attract far more media attention than would otherwise be possible.
Professor Zuma Dogg’s essential lecture:
You would like me to stop attending with such regularity; and I would like to stop attending with such regularity. But that doesn’t seem to be happening. So remember, you’re dealing with a guy who has been sleeping in the seat of a car for the past five months (sleep deprived) without the right amount of nutrition, and people are contacting me round the clock with every problem in the city (which keeps me cranky) — SO PLEASE…JUST LET ME SAY MY F*CKING TWO MINUTES AND DON’T PISS ME OFF!!!
Do our councilmembers ever regret fixing things that weren’t broken?

Zuma Dogg finds a few unauthorized water fountains on Venice Beach:
Yesterday it was reported that Mayor Villaraigosa scolded members of his staff for turning a blind eye to water waste:
LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has pulled out his new drought busters program, and busted his own city staff. The mayor called in his department heads, and a spokesman says it’s fair to say he was upset.
Emphasis mine. So lame when reporters buy in to the drama.
